The Institute of Race Relations (IRR) in the United Kingdom is inviting applications for a Projects Officer to support the development and delivery of its anti-racist education programmes, events, workshops, training and communications projects. Its work focuses on racial justice, migrant and refugee rights, structural racism and supporting grassroots organisations working to address inequality. The organisation conducts research, monitors developments in race and racism, promotes political education and helps connect community campaigns with the wider history of anti-racist movements. The Projects Officer will help translate this mission into practical programmes by ensuring that projects are well coordinated, partnerships are maintained and activities achieve their intended outcomes. Key Responsibilities 1. Project planning and delivery The Projects Officer will coordinate projects from inception through completion, including educational programmes, events, workshops, communications development and training activities. The role requires effective planning, coordination and follow-up to ensure that projects remain on schedule. 2. Stakeholder engagement The successful candidate will engage with internal colleagues, funding partners and external organisations. They will communicate project progress, coordinate contributions and help maintain effective working relationships. 3. Monitoring milestones and outcomes The role involves tracking project milestones, coordinating tasks across the team and ensuring that agreed outputs are completed to a high standard. 4. Problem-solving and project improvement The Projects Officer will identify challenges as they arise, develop practical solutions and work flexibly to support effective delivery and sustainable project outcomes. 5. Partnership development The appointee will collaborate with partner organisations to encourage meaningful cooperation throughout project cycles and strengthen the impact of IRR’s work. 6. Funding coordination and reporting The role includes coordinating funding requirements, gathering information from different parts of the organisation and preparing reports that demonstrate progress against agreed outputs and reporting obligations. Eligibility and Required Skills IRR is seeking a highly organised, hands-on professional with experience managing multiple projects and coordinating teams. Applicants should demonstrate: Experience managing or coordinating several projects simultaneously, with different timelines, outputs and collaborators. Project management or coordination experience, preferably within the voluntary or charitable sector. Knowledge of developing or producing educational materials. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to communicate priorities clearly and coordinate tasks across a team. Experience coordinating funding requirements and preparing funding reports. Strong organisational, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
