Position Overview Position: Mobilisation and Communications Officer Organisation: Fight Inequality Alliance (FIA) Location: Nairobi, Kenya Contract Duration: One year Salary: KES 115,000 per month Reports To: National Coordinator Application Deadline: 6 August 2026 (23:59 UTC/GMT) Key Responsibilities Working as part of the Kenya National Secretariat, the successful candidate will support national organising efforts while strengthening membership engagement and communications. Primary responsibilities include: Supporting implementation of FIA Kenya’s national strategy and 10-year roadmap Expanding and strengthening FIA’s membership base across counties Managing the complete membership lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention Planning and implementing national mobilisation campaigns aligned with global priorities Coordinating community outreach activities and public engagement events Maintaining accurate membership databases and reporting systems Developing digital communications, media content, newsletters, and member engagement materials Supporting monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting activities The role combines strategic communications with grassroots mobilisation to strengthen people-powered advocacy across Kenya. Qualifications Required Applicants should possess relevant academic qualifications in community development, communications, public administration, or related disciplines. Minimum qualifications include: Diploma in Community Development, Development Studies, Communication and Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline will be considered an added advantage. Experience and Skills Candidates should demonstrate substantial experience working within civil society, community organising, or advocacy environments. Essential requirements include: At least four years of professional experience in grassroots organising, mobilisation, membership engagement, communications, or movement building Experience designing and implementing membership growth and mobilisation strategies Proven experience managing digital communications and social media platforms Experience working with NGOs, community-based organisations, social movements, donors, and advocacy networks Strong understanding of grassroots organising and movement-building approaches Knowledge of inequality, human rights, social justice, and feminist principles Understanding of Kenya’s civic space and stakeholder environment Strong project management and organisational skills Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Experience using CRM systems, digital engagement platforms, or membership databases is advantageous Excellent command of English Knowledge of Kiswahili or another Kenyan language is an added advantage Willingness to travel regularly and engage directly with grassroots communities across Kenya Why Join Fight Inequality Alliance?
