Europol is inviting applications for a Senior Specialist – Head of Team – Cybercrime Investigations Support (AD8) within the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3). The recruitment process is intended to establish a reserve list of successful candidates, which Europol expects to begin using during Q4 2026 or Q1 2027. The reserve list may also be used for similar positions within Europol where organisational needs arise. Key Responsibilities The Head of Team will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising team activities, allocating workloads and monitoring performance against established objectives and indicators. Key responsibilities include: Leading and coordinating a team working on cybercrime-related operational activities. Supporting the implementation of Europol’s strategy within the relevant area. Overseeing operational support for cybercrime investigations in accordance with Europol’s mandate. Coordinating investigations and operational support activities. Ensuring the quality, accuracy and timely delivery of reports and other products. Maintaining expertise through research, professional development and engagement with relevant agencies and specialists. Building effective working relationships with Member States and Third-Party Liaison Officers. Ensuring compliance with corporate policies, fundamental rights, standards and data-protection requirements. Coaching, supporting and developing team members. Promoting an inclusive and collaborative international working environment. Potential areas associated with the position include the Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce (J-CAT), payment and online fraud, and digital forensics. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must be members of a competent authority as defined by the Europol Regulation and must have full rights as citizens of an EU Member State. They must also meet applicable military-service obligations, provide appropriate character references and demonstrate the required language proficiency. Candidates must possess university-level education or an equivalent level of professional training, together with the relevant professional experience. In addition to the applicable educational or professional-training route, candidates must have at least nine years of total professional work experience gained after obtaining the required diploma. Professional Experience and Skills The vacancy seeks candidates with substantial experience in cybercrime and law enforcement. Relevant experience includes work in a cybercrime unit within an EU Member State or an international law-enforcement agency, staff management, criminal investigations and intelligence-report production. Experience in one or more of the following areas is particularly relevant: Cybercrime investigations Cyber threat intelligence Digital forensics Payment fraud Dark web investigations Big-data analysis and AI techniques applied to criminal investigations Knowledge of cybercrime trends, threat actors, cybersecurity, intelligence practices, international law-enforcement cooperation and relevant EU and international legal frameworks is also required. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, analytical, organisational, project-management, leadership and problem-solving skills. The role also requires the ability to work effectively under pressure and within a diverse, multidisciplinary international environment. Salary and Benefits The position is classified as AD8. The gross basic monthly salary is EUR 8,911.48 at step 1 or EUR 9,285.95 at step 2, with the applicable step determined according to relevant professional experience. EU tax is deducted at source, while salaries are exempt from national taxation. Subject to eligibility, additional allowances may include expatriation or foreign residence allowances, household allowances, dependent-child allowances and education allowances. Employees also receive health insurance coverage and access to arrangements supporting annual leave, parental leave and work-life balance. Contract and Location The successful candidate will be employed as an Administrator in function group AD, grade 8. The initial contract is for five years, full-time at 40 hours per week, and may generally be renewed once for another five-year period. The required security clearance level is CONFIDENTIEL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL.
