Early-career researchers studying work and employment relations are invited to apply for the 2027 European Winter School for Women in the Study of Work and Employment Relations*, taking place from 8 to 10 March 2027 at the University of Bremen in Germany. The three-day academic workshop is designed for women and non-binary scholars based in Europe whose research focuses on work, labour and employment relations. Applicants can come from disciplines including sociology, political science, European studies, labour studies, industrial relations, economics, psychology, gender studies and related fields. The Winter School will bring together emerging researchers and senior scholars for academic exchange, paper development, networking and discussions about academic careers. Between 12 and 15 places will be competitively allocated. There is no registration fee, while selected participants whose home institutions cannot provide financial support will have their travel and accommodation fully financed. About the European Winter School The European Winter School aims to strengthen and foreground the perspectives of female and non-binary researchers working in fields that study work and employment. The organisers describe work and employment relations as a broad field that brings together different theoretical perspectives and research traditions to examine how work is organised, governed, experienced and contested across different social, economic and historical contexts. The call is open to women and non-binary scholars based in Europe who conduct research on labour and employment relations. Fully Funded Participation Available There is no registration fee for participants selected for the Winter School. In addition, participants who are selected but do not have institutional budget support for participation can receive full financial support for: Travel Accommodation Applicants requiring financial assistance must explain their funding needs in their motivation letter and provide estimated travel and accommodation costs. The application should also include information about any financial support available from the applicant’s home institution. Application Requirements Applicants must submit their materials in English by October 15, 2026. The application package should contain: Extended abstract of the paper to be developed during the Winter School – maximum three pages. Academic CV – maximum two pages. Motivation letter – one page explaining the applicant’s interest in attending the Winter School. Applicants requesting financial support should specify their estimated travel costs, accommodation requirements and the level of support available from their home institution. The organisers also request that applicants include an overview of estimated funding needs in tabular form. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
