Age and academic requirements include: Pre-college applicants: High school diploma and generally under 23 years old. Bachelor’s applicants: High school diploma and generally under 25 years old. Master’s applicants: Bachelor’s degree and generally under 35 years old. Doctoral applicants: Master’s degree and generally under 40 years old. Applicants must also satisfy the admission requirements of their selected university and programme. Language requirements can vary according to the programme. Applicants may generally need to demonstrate Chinese-language proficiency, such as HSK 4, where required, while programmes taught in English may have different language requirements. Applicants who are already receiving another scholarship from the Chinese government or another organisation may not be eligible for the Shanghai Government Scholarship.
