The McGill University, through its Department of Global and Public Health, is hosting the 11th annual Institute in Infectious Diseases and Global Health as part of the McGill Summer Institutes in Global Health. Dates: May 25 – June 19, 2026Format: Online and select in-person courses in Montréal, Québec The Institute offers advanced professional development and academic courses designed for students, researchers, clinicians, and global health practitioners seeking deeper expertise in infectious diseases and global health systems. About the Institute Returning for its 11th year, the 2026 edition features 10 specialized courses spanning research methods, diagnostic innovation, tuberculosis, immunization science, and global health delivery. Courses are led by experts from McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre, alongside guest faculty from around the world. Participants may enroll in multiple courses based on availability and scheduling. A certificate of participation is issued for each completed course. Who Should Attend? The Institute attracts: Graduate students in public and global health Clinicians and healthcare professionals Infectious disease researchers Public health policymakers Global health practitioners The curriculum is tailored to those seeking evidence-based training and exposure to emerging research and implementation strategies. 2026 Highlights The 2026 program introduces two new online courses: Innovations in Immunizations: Epidemiology, Effectiveness, and Equity Point-of-care Diagnosis: Ideation, Implementation & Impact In addition, two courses offer in-person participation options in Montréal: TB Research Methods Providing Health Care to Refugee, Immigrant and Migrant Populations Participants are encouraged to attend in person where possible to benefit from direct engagement and networking opportunities. Core Thematic Areas Course topics include: Tuberculosis (TB) HIV and AIDS COVID-19 One Health approaches Diagnostic product development Qualitative research methods Health care for displaced populations These themes reflect pressing global infectious disease priorities and cross-sector collaboration needs.
