The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) invites highly motivated and skilled candidates to apply for the position of Research Associate – Health Economics. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact, policy-relevant research that shapes health systems and public policy in Nigeria and across Africa. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of health economists and policy analysts, conducting research that directly informs policymaking and strengthens health systems. Role Summary The Research Associate will play a central role in designing and delivering applied research addressing Africa’s most pressing health challenges. Key aspects of the role include: Designing and implementing studies in health economics and health systems. Conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses using household, administrative, and health datasets. Supporting econometric modeling, impact evaluations, and policy analysis. Contributing to policy briefs, technical reports, working papers, and academic publications. Translating complex research findings into actionable policy recommendations. Engaging stakeholders through workshops, conferences, and policy dialogues. Assisting with proposal development and resource mobilization. Collaborating with national and international research and policy partners. Required Qualifications CSEA seeks candidates with strong academic backgrounds and practical experience in health research and policy. Essential qualifications include: A Master’s degree in Economics, Health Economics, Public Policy, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in health research, public health policy, or development programs. Strong quantitative and analytical research skills. Proficiency in research tools such as Stata, R, and Python. Evidence of technical and policy-oriented writing ability. Published research outputs (policy reports, working papers, or academic publications) are an advantage. Experience in the development sector or think tanks is preferred. Excellent teamwork, initiative, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate can transform complex research into clear insights for diverse audiences. Why Join CSEA?
