Overview The Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA) offers one of the oldest Native scholarship programs in the United States, supporting Native students pursuing higher education. Applications are currently open for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, with a deadline of May 31, 2026. Scholarships are administered through the American Indian College Fund. Scholarship Benefits Financial support for undergraduate and graduate studies Free annual AAIA membership for scholarship recipients Opportunities for internships, fellowships, and other educational programs Continuation of scholarships each semester as long as eligibility requirements are met Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet all the following criteria: Native Nation Membership Must be enrolled with a federally or non-federally recognized Native Nation in the continental U.S. or Alaska Proof of enrollment required (e.g., Native Nation ID or official letter) No minimum blood quantum requirement Academic Requirements Full-time enrollment at an accredited institution Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale Pursuing an Associate’s degree or higher (certificate programs not funded) Documentation Required Current class schedule and transcript Essays demonstrating connection to your Native Nation and Native Country Scholarship Continuation Scholarships are renewable each semester as long as the recipient: Maintains full-time status Maintains a 2.5 GPA or higher Remains connected to their Native Nation Funding Sources The AAIA scholarships are funded through: Elizabeth and Sherman Asche Memorial Scholarship Homborg Scholarship Mary Hemenway Memorial Funds Donations from supporters of Native education Partnership with the American Indian College Fund The College Fund administers AAIA scholarships and supports academic programs at 35 accredited Tribal colleges and universities Ensures students receive the resources necessary to graduate and succeed in their careers Notable Features AAIA has been providing scholarships since 1947 Recipients are encouraged to serve their Native Nations with their education Past scholarship recipients’ stories highlight the impact of these awards on Native communities How to Apply Submit your application through the American Indian College Fund portal Deadline: May 31, 2026 for Fall 2026 / Spring 2027 semesters Required materials include essays, transcript, proof of enrollment, and resume VISIT OFFICIAL WEBSITE TO APPLY For more opportunities such as these please follow us on Facebook, Instagram , WhatsApp, Twitter, LinkedIn and Telegram Disclaimer: Global South Opportunities (GSO) is not the organization offering this scholarship.
