How to Choose the Right Scholarship Applicants should not apply simply because a scholarship is described as “fully funded.” The first step should be checking whether the applicant meets the nationality, academic, programme, research and language requirements. Prospective scholars should then compare: Degree level and field of study Eligible countries Tuition coverage Monthly stipend or living allowance Travel and visa support Research funding Application deadline Admission requirements Supervisor requirements for PhD programmes Required English-language evidence For research degrees, applicants should also prepare an academic CV, transcripts, research proposal, references and writing samples where required. Final Reminder The scholarship landscape changes quickly, particularly during the October–December application season. Some programmes listed by Global South Opportunities have multiple rounds or programme-specific deadlines, while others require applicants to secure admission before scholarship consideration. Applicants should therefore verify the current status, eligibility requirements, funding package and deadline on the individual Global South Opportunities post and the official scholarship provider’s website before submitting an application. Global South Opportunities continues to publish new scholarship opportunities for students and researchers across the Global South, including Master’s, PhD, MPhil and research funding opportunities.
