Opportunity to Join a Leading Pan-African Feminist Organization The African Women’s Development Fund is widely recognized for its work in mobilizing financial and technical resources to support African women’s organizations and gender justice initiatives. The newly announced Programme Assistant – Resourcing role is positioned within AWDF’s resourcing and grantmaking operations and aims to strengthen the organization’s programme implementation and partner engagement systems. The role offers professionals the opportunity to contribute to impactful feminist development work across the continent while building experience in programme management and grantmaking operations. Role Overview and Responsibilities The Programme Assistant – Resourcing will provide both administrative and programmatic support to ensure efficient implementation of AWDF’s grantmaking activities and resourcing operations. The successful candidate will work closely with: Programme Managers Senior Programme Officers Programme Officers Various programme units across AWDF The position requires strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills to support programme delivery and partner engagement. Key Responsibilities of the Programme Assistant The selected candidate will support multiple operational and programme-related activities. Core Responsibilities Include: Supporting grantmaking processes and compliance Assisting with partner engagement activities Providing programme administration support Supporting budgeting and financial processes Gathering programme data and information Assisting with monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities Supporting project conceptualization and reporting Helping implement resourcing and grantmaking guidelines The role also contributes to strengthening organizational learning systems that help improve grantmaking approaches and programme adaptation. Focus on Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation A major component of the role involves supporting learning and accountability systems within AWDF’s programmes. The Programme Assistant will help facilitate: Monitoring and evaluation processes Learning documentation Programme adaptation strategies Data collection and reporting Knowledge management activities This work is essential in helping AWDF measure impact and continuously improve its support to feminist and women-led organizations across Africa. Ideal Candidate Profile AWDF is seeking candidates who are passionate about gender justice, feminist movement building, and development work in Africa. Preferred Skills and Experience Ideal applicants should demonstrate: Experience in programme administration Knowledge of grantmaking processes Monitoring and evaluation experience Budgeting and financial support skills Strong organizational and communication abilities Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments Experience supporting project implementation and reporting Bilingual communication skills are particularly important for this position due to AWDF’s work across multiple African regions and language communities.
